The Power of the Subconscious Mind
It’s been another productive month on Medium. Ever since I started writing on this platform, I have produced an even balance of stories across four themes — Psychology, Inspiration, Productivity and Creativity.
February was no exception to this rule.
I am not consciously balancing my writing. Yes, I am a purpose driven writer, but I write as the mood takes me – without much in the way of an editorial schedule.
Suffice to say, I am grateful to my subconscious mind for doing the lion’s share of the work to balance my writing so well. It frees me up to focus on the process of storytelling more than the end result.
The power of the subconscious mind
As I understand (from reading about brain science) the function of our subconscious mind is to store and retrieve data. On top of which a whopping 95 percent of brain activity is beyond our conscious awareness.
Your subconscious mind is akin to a super computer storing a memory of everything that has ever happened to you.
Often something as simple as an aroma or a sound can activate memories from aeons ago. Under hypnosis, people can recall distant memories as though they happened yesterday.
