I had a vivid and startling dream last night. It was easy enough to decode. It wasn’t a fantastical dream like flying to work on a magic carpet or drinking tea with a giant panda. It was a classic “bad romance” scenario.
I was at my ex-boyfriend’s place in the dream. Wearing tall black heels, I located the shiny leather case where he stow his Rolex. I placed the expensive watch on the floor (you know where this is going right?) and ground my stiletto heel into its face. I put the watch back into the box and sashayed off.
Wow, oh wow — and the irony is he doesn’t even own a Rolex!
My reaction to this destructive dream was one of shock, mixed in with some degree of amusement. What did the watch represent? His ego? His heart? Our broken relationship? Me?
Let me provide some context:
First up, I am not a vindictive person. I would never willfully destroy property. While it had been an unhealthy one-sided relationship, it was my choice to step off the merry-go-round.
That was a choice he had respected until the text arrived…
He was fishing you see…
