I totally get this conundrum. I stopped dying my hair blonde two years ago. I am naturally brown haired ~ most people prefer me as blonde and have no qualms telling me so… honestly the hair police are bothersome…

For what it is worth, I think you look great in both pics. You could easily carry off the shorter do.

Maybe try a Bob first? Then go for the crop if it suits?
